Instructions for Stain Removal



Fabric softener: Rub soap onto stain and rewash.

Alcoholic beverages and perfume: Sponge the stain, dabbing it with a cloth wet with COLD water, and pre-treat the remaining stain. Wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Grease, oil and grass: Pre-treat the stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent. If the stain remains, sponge with alcohol. Rinse well and rewash.

Mud: Wait for mud to dry and remove loose dirt with a brush. Rinse with COLD water and pre-treat the stain. Wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Soup: Soak in WARM water and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Chocolate and cocoa, milk, cream, ice cream: Soak in COLD water. Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Shoe polish (wax): Scrape of excess with a blunt knife. Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent. If the fabric is still stained, soak in a solution of one part alcohol to two parts water, rinse and rewash.

Deodorants, antiperspirants and perspiration: Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent. Treat fresh stains with ammonia and old stains with vinegar. Rinse and rewash.

Felt-tip pen ink: Use a household cleaning product (Fantastic, Mr. Clean, etc.) and let it soak in while rubbing. Rinse and repeat as needed. Wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Ballpoint pen ink: Sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol or spray with a pretreatment product or hairspray until soaked. Rinse well. Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.



Fruits and fruit juices: Soak in COLD water. Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Chewing gum: Rub the stain with an ice cube and carefully remove as much gum as possible with a blunt knife. Wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric).

Ketchup/tomatobased foods, egg, meat juices, gravy: Scrape with a blunt knife and soak in COLD water. Pre-treat stain and wash in
the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Mayonnaise, salad dressing: Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent. If the stain remains, sponge with stain remover that will not damage the fabric, rinse and rewash.

Mustard: Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.

Blood: Soak in COLD water. Pre-treat stain and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent. If the stain remains, soak in WARM water with a presoaking product.


Nail polish: Place the stained garment, stain up, on several paper towels and sponge with nail polish remover until the stain disappears. Rinse well and wash in the hottest water possible (that will not damage the fabric) and use an appropriate bleaching agent.
